Whats the best thermal monocular for property security and occasional hunting?

Been dealing with trespassers on my rural property lately and local sheriff basically told me "good luck" since we're 45 minutes from town. Property is about 80 acres with mix of open fields and wooded areas, and I need something to spot people/animals at night without them knowing I'm watching.

Also do some hog hunting with buddies on weekends and regular night vision scopes are useless when it's cloudy or new moon. Thermal seems like the way to go but never used one before and prices are all over the map from $500 to $5000.

Main concerns are decent detection range (maybe 200-300 yards), battery life that won't die after 2 hours, and something durable enough for outdoor use in Texas heat and humidity. Not looking to break the bank but willing to invest in quality gear that actually works.

Been reading reviews online but half seem fake and the other half are written by people who clearly never used the products. Anyone here have real experience with thermal monocular devices?

Man i feel you on the sheriff thing. Mine told me "install better locks" after someone stole my atv right out the barn. Thermal changed everything tho - caught 3 different groups trying to mess around my place this year alone

$500 thermal is basically a expensive toy. Wasted money on some chinese knockoff that could barely see my dog at 20 feet. Save up or stay frustrated

hogs are smart but they cant see thermal coming lmao. buddy of mine drops 30+ a season now just walking fence lines at night. makes regular rifle hunting look prehistoric

Youre in Texas? Dude the heat absolutely murders electronics. My first unit literally melted the rubber eye piece during july. Whatever u buy make sure its rated for desert temps or youll be replacing it next summer

80 acres is alot of ground to cover with handheld. Ever think about fixed cameras instead? Game cams with thermal send alerts to your phone when something trips them

Game cams get stolen constantly out here. Had 4 disappear last month alone. Plus trespassers know to look for them now. Handheld lets you actually do something about it in real time

100%! Vameras just record your stuff getting stolen. Thermal monocular means you can actually respond while its happening instead of watching footage later

Got the MiLESEEY T-Recon TNV30 few months back and its solid for what i paid. Range is legit and survived multiple camping trips in humid weather. Battery sucks like all of them but at least it works when i need it

lol my neighbor called cops on me last month thinking i was some kind of peeping tom with night vision. Had to explain the whole trespasser situation to avoid getting arrested. Maybe warn your neighbors first?

Thermal hog hunting is straight up cheating and i love it. Walked up on group of 8 last weekend they had no clue i was there. Regular NV wouldve been useless with cloud cover

tested a bunch before settling on agm asp-micro short range monocular. Thing is tiny but punches way above its weight. Fits in cargo pocket and battery actually lasts decent time. Not cheap but worth it imo
