The new generation of Toyota Corolla Touring according to Japanese media will get three versions at once
The next-generation Toyota Corolla is due in 2026. The model will be presented in three body types: sedan, hatchback and station wagon. The Corolla Touring station wagon will form a separate subfamily, including a base model, a crossover and even a sporty version.
Here's What We Know
According to BestCarWeb, a website known for insights into the Japanese auto industry, the creators of the next-generation Corolla have paid special attention to usability, fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness. The base model should receive a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor in HEV (self-electric hybrid) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid) modifications.
The crossover will resemble Yaris Cross with correction on the long body and spacious boot. Its distinctive features will be increased ground clearance and unpainted plastic covers on the perimeter of the body. In Europe, this model could compete with VW Golf Alltrack, but it is not clear whether it will have all-wheel drive.
Perhaps, the most unexpected version of Corolla Touring will be sporty. The novelty will get a 1.6-litre three-cylinder G16E-GTS turbo 3-cylinder engine from the GR Yaris and GR Corolla, producing 304 hp. The GR-FOUR all-wheel drive system, honed in the WRC World Rally Championship, is already known to be available.
