Škoda is celebrating its 130th anniversary in an unusual way - by turning the Superb station wagon into a bicycle racing support pick-up truck. This is the tenth student model created by students at the Škoda Academy in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. The Škoda LK 130 project was worked on by 28 students who spent more than 2,000 hours on development, design and assembly. The car turned out to be really special.

Here's What We Know

The name and styling of the LK 130 refers to the company's founders, Václav Laurin and Václav Klement. In 1895, they started with the production of bicycles under the Slavia brand, then moved on to motorbikes and in 1905 to cars under the Laurin Klement brand. Cycling has remained part of Škoda's DNA: today the company is a regular partner of the Tour de France, La Vuelta, Paris-Roubaix road cycling races and other prestigious cycling events. The company claims that the cooperation with the organisers will last until at least 2028.

This is the first student project based on the Škoda Superb Combi, and in the iV version with a hybrid setup. Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre TSI petrol motor (150 hp) and an electric motor, with a total output of 204 hp. The electric motor is powered by a 25.7 kWh battery.

The students cut off the rear part of the roof, reinforced the bodywork, reshaped the struts and shortened the roof rails. The right rear door has a unique sliding mechanism so that it can be opened even in heavy traffic at a cycling race - the door does not swing outwards and does not obstruct passing athletes.

The body is now a platform with a retractable "tail". Press a button and the rear part extends, allowing you to quickly get a spare bike. On board are two bike holders from the official Škoda catalogue and a roof rack for a third bike. When folded, the car remains the same length as the standard Superb Combi.

The interior is decorated in the traditional Laurin Klement colour scheme: black, red, white and gold. Recyclable materials are used, and the front sports seats have "130 years" embroidery.

The unique Škoda LK 130 will be shown at the Tour de France 2025 - the race will take place from 5 to 27 July. However, Škoda does not specify whether the car will be used as a full-fledged technician or will only decorate the partner zone at the events with its presence.
