Land Rover has remembered its adventure roots and launched the Defender Trophy Edition, a version inspired by the Camel Trophy off-roaders that roamed the jungles and deserts from 1980 to 2000. Of course, the Camel brand is not directly mentioned here, but the references are more than transparent - especially if you choose the colour Deep Sandglow Yellow.

Here's What We Know

The Keswick Green colour is offered as an alternative, but either way you get gloss black arches, bonnet and lower bodywork. However, if you really go off-road, this beauty can shine off in a couple of kilometres. So for "expeditions" it is better to order a protective film at once.

Externally Defender Trophy stands out against the usual models:

  • 20-inch black discs with off-road tyres.
  • reinforced pads on the front and back
  • Trophy badges on the bonnet and body pillars.

The interior features Ebony Windsor leather seats, illuminated sills with Trophy logo and body-coloured metal panels.

For those who want to look like a real Camel Trophy competitor, there's the Trophy Accessory Pack - for an extra £4,995 ($6,700) you can get an expedition roof rack, side bins, ladder, mudguards and snorkel.

The Defender Trophy Edition's base price in the UK is £89,810 ($120,000). The SUV will be unveiled in July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it will not only be seen up close, but also in motion.

Earlier Land Rover has already released special versions of Trophy - but only for the U.S. and limited edition. The new Defender Trophy Edition is a global model.
