Galaxy S25 Edge will receive One UI 8 based on Android 16 - development is already underway

Samsung is actively preparing the One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S25 Edge. Although the flagship initially came with One UI 7 based on Android 15, the company is already working on the next version of the firmware - this time on Android 16.
Here's What We Know
The Galaxy S25 Edge did not participate in the One UI 8 beta testing along with the rest of the S25 series, but a new report confirms that the firmware development for this device has officially started. The smartphone has flagship specs: a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a 6.7-inch 2K display, and a 200-megapixel main camera. Its price starts at $1099.

One UI 8 is expected to bring improved resource management, a feature that should help solve the device's main problem: not very long battery life. Given the competition with Apple, which is introducing AI algorithms to optimise battery life, Samsung may also introduce similar tools in this update.
In addition, One UI 8 will include new AI features from Samsung and Google that will improve overall performance in everyday use.
In August, Galaxy S25 FE will be released out of the box with One UI 8, and in July, Samsung will present Galaxy Fold 7 and Flip 7 at the Unpacked event - these models will also run the new firmware version. Meanwhile, the company is already preparing One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S26 series.
