TSMC to build a technology centre in Germany to develop new chips and a chip manufacturing plant

Taiwan's TSMC, the world's largest semiconductor manufacturer, is expanding its co-operation with European partners and has announced the launch of two large-scale projects that will help boost joint efforts in developing the latest technologies.
Here's What We Know
TSMC Europe president Paul de Bot said a new centre will open in Munich, Germany, in the third quarter of this year to help European customers design high-performance and energy-efficient chips for automotive, IoT (Internet of Things), industrial automation and artificial intelligence applications.
TSMC will also work with Infineon, NXP and Bosch to build a €10bn chip manufacturing plant in Dresden, Germany, which will be TSMC's first manufacturing facility in Europe and will help Europeans close the gap with the US and China in such a technology-driven industry.
The plant will be managed through a joint venture, European Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (ESMC), and will use technology previously unavailable in Europe to produce advanced chips.
