After the success of Oblivion Remastered, gamers began to massively request a remaster of the original Fallout. One of the game's creators, Tim Cain, explained in a YouTube video why it is almost impossible.

Here's What We Know

According to him, after leaving Interplay, he was ordered not to leave any copies of the Fallout code. He not only destroyed the main files, but also all prototypes and libraries, which is why even his old home projects no longer work.

Despite this, Rebecca Heineman, co-founder of Interplay, claims to have partial copies of the code. But the legal and technical obstacles remain serious. For example, music licences granted in 1997 do not allow the reuse of tracks in new versions. Videos were created in old formats that are no longer compatible, and the code itself was assembled using tools that no longer exist.

Kane also believes that modern players will not accept the original interface and complex mechanics of Fallout. To make the game user-friendly now, it would have to be created from scratch - and this would not be a remaster, but a completely new project.
