BMW has dedicated a special version of the M4 CS Coupé to the 46th birthday of legendary motorbike racer and BMW M factory pilot Valentino Rossi. The new M4 CS Edition VR46 is a limited edition of just 92 examples, 46 of each of two versions: VR46 Sport and VR46 Style. All cars were assembled at the Dingolfing plant between February and May this year.

Here's What We Know

The key feature of the special version is a unique body design, which was developed by the same team that worked on the BMW 3.0 CSL supercar. To apply branded graphics, including huge inscriptions "46", each car was sent to a separate paint shop, where it spent 20 hours. Before applying the layers of paint, craftsmen sanded the factory coating, then added decorative elements by hand using stencils. Finally, a clear lacquer was applied and a carbon fibre roof with Rossi's signature and the VR46 logo was fitted.

The VR46 Sport version is painted in Marina Bay Blue metallic blue with Tanzanite Blue graphics and yellow accents on the grille, calipers and forged wheels. In the Style version, the colours are inverted: the body is in matte Tanzanite Blue, the numbers are in Frozen Marina Bay Blue, and the accents are the same.

Under the bonnet - standard for M4 CS 3.0-litre six-cylinder biturbo engine with an output of 550 hp. The interior features unique blue and yellow trim elements, VR46 logos and a "1/46" plaque on the carbon fibre centre console.

The most important thing for Valentino Rossi's loyal fans is not only the opportunity to buy such a car, but also the chance to meet the driver in person at his VR46 Motor Ranch in Italy. After that, participants will be treated to a track day at the Misano circuit as part of the BMW M Driving Experience programme.
